5 Day Level 2 Award in Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry (RQF)

The Axis Academy are an approved training provider under Highfield Qualifications to deliver this SIA Licence linked course.
This qualification is designed for those that require a licence from the SIA to work as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry. On successful completion of this course candidates will be eligible to apply for a SIA Licence *subject to a DBS check*.
Unit 1 – Working within the Private Security Industry
Externally set and externally assessed MCQ 40 questions, 1 hour, 70% pass mark
Unit includes understanding of:
Main characteristics of the Private Security Industry, Legislation as it applies to the individual in carrying out a licensable activity, The importance of safe working practices to comply with legal requirements, Fire procedures in the workplace, Emergencies and the importance of emergency procedures, The importance of communication skills and customer care.
Unit 2 – Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry
Externally set and externally assessed MCQ paper. 45-questions, 1-hour and 15 minutes, 70% pass mark
Unit includes understanding of:
The role and objectives of a door supervisor, Civil and criminal law relevant to a door supervisor, Searching relevant to a door supervisor, Powers of arrest relevant to a door supervisor, Drug misuse issues and procedures relevant to the role of a door supervisor, Incident recording and crime scene preservation relevant to the role of a door supervisor, Licensing law and social responsibility relevant to the role of a door supervisor, Emergency procedures which should be followed by a door supervisor, How a door supervisor can help to keep vulnerable people safe, Queue management and venue capacity responsibilities relevant to a door supervisor
Unit 3 – Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry
Externally set and externally assessed MCQ paper. 20-questions, 30-minutes, 70% pass mark
Unit includes understanding of:
The principles of conflict management appropriate to their role, How to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations, How to communicate in emotive situations to de-escalate conflict, How to develop and use problem solving strategies for resolving conflict , Good practice to follow after conflict situations
Unit 4 – Physical Intervention Skills within the Private Security Industry
Externally set and internally assessed scenario. True/False questions, 100% pass mark externally set and internally assessed practical assessment. 100% pass mark
Unit includes being able understand and practically demonstrate competency where applicable in:
Physical interventions and the implications of their use, How to reduce the risk of harm when physical intervention skills are used, Be able to use non-aggressive physical skills to protect yourself and others, Be able to use non-pain related standing, holding and escorting techniques, including non-restrictive and restrictive skills. Good practice to follow after physical interventions.
This course is delivered over 5 days and on successful completion a certificate of competence is issued from the Awarding Organisation which entitles candidates to start the application for their SIA Licence.
