CCTV Operator Course

This 4 day CCTV Operator course covers the SIA requirements for anyone wanting to work in the private security industry as a CCTV Operative. The course covers both the theory and practical application of working as a CCTV operative. After successfully completing this course learners will be eligible to apply for a SIA licence.

This 4 day CCTV Operator training course will cover the following:

Unit 1 – Working within the Private Security Industry

The learner will be taught a number of areas relevant to the security industry as a whole, including the law and relevant legislation, communication, health and safety etc.

Unit 2 – Working as a CCTV Operative within the Private Security Industry

Covers the more specific sections relevant to a CCTV operator including more relevant legislation, roles and responsibilities of those involved in CCTV, types of CCTV equipment etc.

Unit 3 – Practical operation of using CCTV equipment

Gets learners ready for working in a control room or CCTV room by way of operating live cameras and completing tasks expected of operators on a regular basis, including logging and reporting, tracking, downloading evidence etc.

Learners are assessed through two multiple choice question papers – one for unit 1 and one for unit 2. Each paper consists of 40 questions and a minimum pass mark of 28 is required.

Units 1 and 2 assessment papers are externally marked by the awarding body.

Unit 3 is assessed through a practical scenario in the CCTV room and marked by the course tutor.


On successful completion, learners will receive a nationally accredited Level 2 certificate in Working as a CCTV Operator This certificate is the gateway to applying for a SIA CCTV licence.
